03 / Editorial story

A reason to look again.

Before the pulse-oximeter, a doctor timed a pulse with the chronograph on his wrist: start the sweep, count thirty beats, read the heart rate straight off a red scale. The PX1715 keeps that instrument layout — Gradué pour 30 pulsations, printed in red — and dresses it in a cream dial with Breguet numerals under a domed crystal.

The pump pushers carry colored cabochons, the two registers sit where the vintage originals had them, and the brown leather strap closes on a deployant clasp. It ships in the round blue Proxima travel case.

Movement
Seagull ST1902 manual-wind column-wheel chronograph, 22 jewels, 21,600 VPH, approx. 40-42 hour power reserve, non-hacking. Three-register layout: running seconds at 9, 30-minute totalizer at 3, 12-hour mirror register at 6 tracking the central hour hand — the ST1902 signature. Heritage: Venus sold its Venus 175 machinery, tooling and blueprints to the Tianjin Watch Factory in the 1960s for the Chinese Air Force project; Seagull resurrected that Swiss tooling as the ST19 family — a vintage Swiss movement architecture in disguise.
